First, I am embarrassed to say, I did not see the small font white note saying to remove paper from THE TOP OF BATTERY PACK. I don't remember there being one ON THE OTHER TWO, BUT IT MAY HAVE BEEN MY BAD, ALTHOUGH THE INSTRUCTIONS COULD HAVE ALSO BEEN CLEARER.The instructions do not mention that crucial basic step, AND ARE VERY HARD TO READ AND DECIPER, AT LEAST FOR ME. I sent two Fenix back because the battery would not fire.NOTES:1. SO, SHOUT OUT TO ALL WHO ARE IGNORANT OF ALL THINGS "BATTERY", DON'T BE LIKE ME. REMOVE PAPER COVERING BATTERY NODULES BEFORE CHARGING, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TINY NOTE IN -6 FONT TELLING YOU TO DO SO.2. SNCE THIS FENIX IS THE BRIGHTEST I COULD FIND, AND I TRAIN SEARCH AND RESCUE DRILLS WITH MY DOGS AT NIGHT, I NEED BOTH HANDS AND A VERY BRIGHT LIGHT. THE OTHER TWO FENIX I LOVED BUT WERE NOT AS BRIGHT. BOTH WERE STOLEN.3. A DOWN SIDE OF THE HEADLAMP IS BATTERY WEIGHT, THE CORD OF WHICH I WEAR PLUGGED INTO THE BATTER AT MY BELT. YOU MAY ALSO USE IT ON A HELMET, WHICH IS IMPRACTICAL FOR ME UNLESS I AM IN THE FIELD.4. THE SECOND DOWN SIDE IS THE CORD HANGS FROM THE TOP OF MY HEADBAND TO THE BATTERY PACK, SO IF YOU CAN WEAR YOUR PACK AT YOUR BACK, THAT MAY NOT BE AN ISSUE. THIS IS UNTESTED FOR ME.SINCE I AM A WOMAN, I WEAR THE PACK AT MY WAIST SO I CAN MONITOR BATTERY USE. (SMALL BLUE DOTS ON THE BATTERY TOP WILL TELL YOU HOW MUCH .JUICE IS LEFT. I CLIP THE CORD ONTO MY HEADBAND ON EACH SIDE TO KEEP IT OUT OF MY FACE..5. THE LAMP AND BATTERY WILL RUN WARM, GIVEN ITS OUTPUT.6. I MUST CALL FENIX ABOUT BULB REPLACEMENT, AS I SAW NONE ON AMAZON. I WILL REREAD INSTRUCTIONS, BUT I DO NOT REMEMBER THE INSTRCUCTIONS ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE.7. DO NOT LOOK DOGS OR PEOPLE IN THE EYE WITH THE LAMP ON. TURN OFF WHEN ADJUSTING FOR YOURSELF. THE LIGHT UP CLOSE IS PAINFULLY BLINDING.OVERALL, I GAVE THE RATINGS ALL 5'S, AS I LOVE HOW BRIGHT THE LAMP IS , AND HOW MANY VARIATIONS YOU HAVE AT "ON" FOR ALL BULBS. I RECOMMEND THIS LAMP HIGHLY IF YOU NEED TO TRY TO INSURE YOU HAVE NO FOURLEGGED UNIVITED COMPANY (ALONG WITH BEAR SPRAY), AND YOU REALLY NEED AS MUCH OF A FRONT VIEW AS POSSIBLE.I WILL WRITE AN ADDENDUM AFTER MORE CONTINUOUS USE IF PROBLEMS ARISE..Mary Lou Powers, M.S.UPDATE THEY REPLACED THE LIGHT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAD CONTACTED THE WRONG SELLER. ITS IMPORTANT YOU CALL WITH THE SERIAL NUMBER TO CREATE AN RMA WITH THE CORRECT SELLER NO MATTER WHAT SELLER IS LISTED ON THE AMAZON SITE.I am an EF License Contractor in Florida. We work outside at night. I bought this light and was very excited. It came with great accessories for remote mounting the pack and the light was very bright. I used it ONE NIGHT near the intercoastal waterway. We had 6-7 older lights, mostly cheap 4 year old Danforce, out that night. I set the light down in a damp, but not wet, area for 1 hour. That night the charging hole, which was covered, corroded over and now the light will not charge or turn on. It was more than 30 days after I bought from Amazon, so no return. I contact Fenix and they haven't written me back. It was a lot of money for one night of use. the 35.00 Danforce continue to work fine. DO NOT WAST YOUR MONEY.I work outside at night, 5 days a week.Finding a good headlamp is a challenge. This is by far the best one I've used in years.Turbo mode brings daylight to whatever you point it at! But it kills the battery life, so I rarely use it.The lamp does get pretty hot in brighter settings, but you don't really notice it on your head, until you reach up the change the settings. The first couple uses, the batteries barely lasted the night, but I've quickly learned to adjust the light as needed, so I can easily get one or two nights per charge. I thought the battery life would be better, but I guess that's to be expected with such powerful led'sThe flood light is amazing. Best I've found by far! It completely lights up the working area in front of you.The power pack has some good features, like being able to use it to charge other devices. And I like the option to wear it on your belt, with the extended cable provided, but I haven't needed to use it yet.But this is one place where nitecore has this beat. Theirs uses a standard USB plug, so you can use any power pack to power the device, not an option here, but that's the only part that nitecore seemed to do better. I do hope Fenix comes out with an alternative power bank, like one that could hold three or four 18650s.All and all, I'm very pleased with this headlamp. As long as it stands up to the test of time, it will be well worth the price. This headlamp is absolutely superb on all levels. Granted, it is a bit bulky, and it's certainly not cheap. But the battery life is excellent. I have used it almost nightly to walk the dogs :) for the last 2 months now. Have it on for about 20 to 30 min each walk, mostly on low and medium, but intermittently on high and turbo. It just now went down one dot (out of 4) on the battery indicator. So, I am certain it would work well as a battery bank as well (which it's advertised for). The light strength and throw are also great. But what I like the most is the user-friendliness of its controls. Instead of having to cycle through all settings to reach the desired level, it has a turn switch that allows you to go up and down at will. This is true for both, the long throw settings and the flood settings. And with a push of the same switch, you can add either to either. Very cool and functional. So, five stars on everything. This isn't my first Fenix brand light, and it won't be my last one. This is a large headlamp and uses a pair of 12700 batteries that can attach to the headband, or includes a long cable to wear the battery pack on a belt, or place in a backpack. The output is sufficient for all outdoor activities and the battery life is exceptional. If I need more than my HP25R V2.0 this is the perfect nighttime light source. This is a high quality product that is solidly constructed, it has good battery life and provides an enormous amount of light.I like everything about this light. It’s perfect for trout fishing and/or hiking in the woods at night.Excellent
